What a night! Sally the Snake and the Jungle Challenge Fundraiser crew had an unforgettable evening at The Old Malt House, Templemore! 🏆🐍

The contestants, supporters, and locals turned out in force to celebrate the upcoming Jungle Challenge Fundraiser.

A Fundraising Events Group production in association with Empower Events – all in aid of JK Brackens GAA Club!

A fantastic recording took place in the McAuley Centre on Saturday afternoon last as four young local musicians came together to combine their musical talents.
The original Templemore Sessions – The Beginning, was recorded in the same venue in August 2018 and proved very popular. The idea behind the project is to capture local musicians and singers on film and to preserve their talents on platforms such as YouTube and Spotify which will be there for generations to come
The world is advancing at such a pace that CD’s and DVD’s, which were produced for the 2018 recording, are now almost a thing of the past. For that production the band comprised Willie Fogarty (Templemore), Johnny Keegan, Brian Hyde and Anna Mackey ( all Rathdowney) and Dinny Quirke (Roscrea).
Last weekend was the turn of the young guns and Ben Collins, Aoife Kelly, Ciara O’Brien and Niamh Kennedy put on a show that will be remembered for many a day. Those lucky enough to get a seat sat enthralled for three hours as we listened to covers from Dolores Keane, Abba, Aslan, The Goo Goo Dolls, The Dixie Chicks, the Kings of Leon and many more along with beautiful songs from some new Irish Bands such as Ye Vagabonds and Amble.
After the interval we had special appearances from Johnny, Dinny and Willie as we linked the old and the new. And what about Maxi Mooney from Dun Laoghaire who just happened to turn up at rehearsals a week previously and landed himself a gig. His version of Jim McCann’s Easy and Slow was outstanding just as were all the performers who received a standing ovation at the end.
Robert Healy, Noel Maher and Alexa O’Regan manned four camera’s and the fabulous production should be ready for St. Patrick’s Day. While it will be posted on Social Media anyone wishing to receive a CD or DVD can contact Ronan Loughnane on 087-7931721.

It was a night of nostalgia, laughter, and reconnection as over 50 classmates gathered for their reunion in Murphy’s. Some travelled from as far as America, Nova Scotia, Saudi Arabia, London, and every corner of Ireland to be there.

🙏 Remembering Those We Lost
Sadly, the group took time to honour the memory of nine classmates who have passed away over the years:
Lorraine Quinn, Dearbhla McClean, Caroline Sweeney, Rachel Bourke, Paul Giles, Joe Brennan, David Nolan, Jim Callanan, and Brian Hanley. They were fondly remembered throughout the evening.

💙 Giving Back
In an incredible show of generosity, the reunion group raised €2,820 through donations on the night in aid of North Tipperary Hospice – a fantastic contribution to a worthy cause.

👏 A Huge Well Done!
A massive thank you to the organisers who made this event a reality. It was a night filled with shared stories, cherished friendships, and plenty of craic!

Supporting Templemore’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations

All proceeds from this event will directly support Céilúradh Lá Fhéile Pádraig, taking place in Templemore’s Town Square on Sunday, 17th March 2024. Organised by the St. Patrick’s Day Event Committee, this annual celebration aims to bring the community together for a day of cultural festivities, music, and entertainment.

Our community is truly fortunate to have Lynn Kirkham, an expert on St. Brigid’s life and traditions, sharing her knowledge with us. Last Sunday morning in Killea, Lynn showcased a beautiful display of her work and demonstrated how to weave the iconic St. Brigid’s cross.

For those who missed it, fear not! 🙌 The Sr. Aine Historical Society is delighted to welcome Lynn to the McAuley Centre this Friday at 7 PM for a short talk on St. Brigid, followed by another cross-weaving demonstration. And if you’d like to try making your own, this is your chance!

Auld Lang Syne – The Finns with Joe and Bríd Barry

The performance took place in Dowlings Pub in Errill, County Laois, a beloved venue for both the Finn family and the Barry family, who have been long-time friends. Pipes and drums have such a distinct sound that fills the heart, and this performance is a prime example of why we love this music.

A huge thank you to Bríd and Joe Barry, and special thanks to Liz and Ned Dowling for allowing us to record and perform in their beautiful pub, situated in the heart of Ireland.

The recording was done by our friend Eddie Kavanagh Photography and edited by Ciaran. We hope this piece brings a little extra joy to your new year celebrations.
