Exciting news for Templemore! We are proud to announce the launch of our brand-new town website, designed to serve as a central hub for residents, businesses, and visitors alike. This website now features a town directory and we are working on this to become a fully interative directory linking to all business and clubs social media pages and websites.

A Collaborative Effort

This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible teamwork and dedication of many individuals. A huge thank you to Geraldine of Designedly, who worked closely with Templemore’s Comms Team to bring this vision to life. Like most websites, this is an ongoing project. A special word of thanks to Noel Conan for his financial support that allowed this important step in Templemore’s communication strategy to become a reality.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Templemore’s 2025 Celebration

Templemore once again embraced the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day with a family-day of music, dance, and cultural performances. The town came alive with energy, thanks to the dedication of local organizers, volunteers, and performers who made this event a great success.

Thomas McDonagh Pipe Band: 61 Years of Tradition

Kicking off the festivities was the legendary Thomas McDonagh Pipe Band, celebrating 61 years of continuous performances on St. Patrick’s Day. Their music echoed through the town, setting the stage for an great celebration.

A Community United: Organizers and Volunteers

None of this would have been possible without the unwavering efforts of the Templemore Traders, Development Association and Volunteers, who worked tirelessly to ensure a seamless and enjoyable event for all. Their dedication to bringing the community together deserves immense appreciation. Huge thanks therefore to Mary O’Shea (MC on the day), Catherine Egan-O’Brien, Michael O’Brien, Laura O’Connor, Dorothy Finnerty, Mary Frances Kennedy, Deirdre Ryan and Kevin Ludlow and the many volunteers who helped out on the day.

Young Talent from Cill Shléibhe Comhaltas

Templemore’s rich musical heritage was beautifully represented by young musicians from Cill Shléibhe Comhaltas. Cara Kennedy, Ella Fogarty, Paudie Barrett, and Saoirse Fogarty delighted audiences with their incredible traditional music performances, highlighting the bright future of Irish music.

A Spectacular Performance from Our Lady’s Secondary School

The talented students from Our Lady’s Secondary School Templemore impressed the audience with their vibrant performance. Their hard work and dedication to the arts continue to bring outstanding productions to the community, with great excitement already building for next year’s showcase which will be Shrek so we can all look forward to that.

The Strolling Bones: A Crowd Favorite

A highlight of the day was the fantastic performance by The Strolling Bones, who once again thrilled the crowd with their signature style. A special mention to Michael Ryan for adding an extra layer of entertainment with his unique bird calls and of course to Fran Denny, a firm favourite and musical stalwart in Templemore and finally to Beardle Barry who you will also have seen at the opening of the parade with the Thomas McDonagh Pipe Band on the bass drum.

St. Colmcilles’ Powerful Irish Haka

One of the most exciting moments of the day was the wonderful Irish Haka performed by the young warriors of St. Colmcilles. Their powerful and passionate display was a true testament to their dedication and cultural pride, earning them a well-deserved round of applause.

A Day to Remember

St. Patrick’s Day 2025 in Templemore was a shining example of community spirit, cultural appreciation, and joyful celebration. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who played a part in making this event so special. Here’s to another fantastic celebration next year!

A Creative and Educational Project

The students have put their artistic talents to work, crafting handmade fairy houses and doors that will soon be installed along the trail. To inspire their designs, they visited the fairy trail at Bunratty Castle and took a trip to the National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin to explore art that would influence their work.

Bringing the Fairy Trail to Life

The next steps for the project include:

✔️ Installing the remaining fairy houses and doors
✔️ Cleaning and restoring existing fairy doors
✔️ Preparing for the official launch in May

This initiative has been led by Finn O’Hara, a teacher at Our Lady’s Secondary School, whose guidance has helped bring this vision to reality.

Once completed, the fairy trail will be a delightful attraction for families, nature lovers, and anyone looking to experience a bit of magic in Templemore Town Park. Whether you’re a local or visiting for the day, this unique addition promises to be a wonderful highlight of the park.

Congratulations to Templemore native, Tara Klarlund Hogan, who is making a significant impact in Denmark by promoting Irish culture abroad. Tara is a founding member of a newly established Cultural Association in Copenhagen, dedicated to celebrating all things Irish – from music and arts to the GAA.

Having lived in Copenhagen since 2001, Tara – daughter of Mick and Anna Hogan, Knockinroe – has been a strong advocate for Irish heritage. Alongside her work with the association, she is also the Head of the English Department at Studieskolen, Copenhagen, where she continues to bridge cultural connections through education.

Engaging with Leaders and the Irish Community

As part of the association’s launch, Tara recently met with Minister Butler to discuss its goals and future initiatives. She was also photographed alongside board members, marking an exciting milestone for the Irish community in Denmark.

This initiative will serve as a vibrant hub for Irish culture, fostering stronger ties between Ireland and Denmark while providing a platform for Irish traditions to flourish internationally.

Templemore is set to feature in an exciting new exhibition, ‘The Reason of Towns’, currently running at The Source in Thurles until February 7th. The exhibition, which was recently featured on Nationwide, explores the possible futures of Irish towns, highlighting four locations: Clones, Dungarvan, Youghal, and Templemore.

Curated by the Irish Architecture Foundation, the exhibition brings together models, drawings, films, and memorabilia to tell the story of Ireland’s towns, their traditions, and their potential.

Templemore will also be featured on RTÉ Nationwide this Friday, January 10th, at 7 PM. The program will showcase the well-known Griffiths Valuation plaques, with filming having taken place in Templemore and the National Archives in Dublin.

This is a great opportunity to see Templemore on the national stage. Be sure to tune in and support the town.
