Templemore Sessions – The Future.

A fantastic recording took place in the McAuley Centre on Saturday afternoon last as four young local musicians came together to combine their musical talents.
The original Templemore Sessions – The Beginning, was recorded in the same venue in August 2018 and proved very popular. The idea behind the project is to capture local musicians and singers on film and to preserve their talents on platforms such as YouTube and Spotify which will be there for generations to come
The world is advancing at such a pace that CD’s and DVD’s, which were produced for the 2018 recording, are now almost a thing of the past. For that production the band comprised Willie Fogarty (Templemore), Johnny Keegan, Brian Hyde and Anna Mackey ( all Rathdowney) and Dinny Quirke (Roscrea).
Last weekend was the turn of the young guns and Ben Collins, Aoife Kelly, Ciara O’Brien and Niamh Kennedy put on a show that will be remembered for many a day. Those lucky enough to get a seat sat enthralled for three hours as we listened to covers from Dolores Keane, Abba, Aslan, The Goo Goo Dolls, The Dixie Chicks, the Kings of Leon and many more along with beautiful songs from some new Irish Bands such as Ye Vagabonds and Amble.
After the interval we had special appearances from Johnny, Dinny and Willie as we linked the old and the new. And what about Maxi Mooney from Dun Laoghaire who just happened to turn up at rehearsals a week previously and landed himself a gig. His version of Jim McCann’s Easy and Slow was outstanding just as were all the performers who received a standing ovation at the end.
Robert Healy, Noel Maher and Alexa O’Regan manned four camera’s and the fabulous production should be ready for St. Patrick’s Day. While it will be posted on Social Media anyone wishing to receive a CD or DVD can contact Ronan Loughnane on 087-7931721.

What a fantastic piece of music to welcome in 2024! 🎶 On this first day of the year, we’re thrilled to share a stunning performance by Ciaran and Hugh, alongside Bríd and Joe Barry, right here in Templemore. The fusion of traditional and piping music is a true joy to listen to, and it sounds especially amazing in this performance.

Auld Lang Syne – The Finns with Joe and Bríd Barry

The performance took place in Dowlings Pub in Errill, County Laois, a beloved venue for both the Finn family and the Barry family, who have been long-time friends. Pipes and drums have such a distinct sound that fills the heart, and this performance is a prime example of why we love this music.

A huge thank you to Bríd and Joe Barry, and special thanks to Liz and Ned Dowling for allowing us to record and perform in their beautiful pub, situated in the heart of Ireland.

The recording was done by our friend Eddie Kavanagh Photography and edited by Ciaran. We hope this piece brings a little extra joy to your new year celebrations.

Happy New Year to everyone, and a big thank you to our incredible fans who continue to support us. We’re so grateful for all the love, and we can’t wait to bring you more music in 2024!

Templemore Ladies Football Club has been providing a platform for girls and ladies from Templemore, Clonmore, Killea and surrounding parishes. The club was revived around 2000 by Enda McDonnell, ably assisted by his wife, Olive. The club has grown from strength to strength thanks to the various hard-working committees, contribution of sponsors, the time given by mentors, support of parents and the talent and commitment of the players.

With membership of 288 we are the largest club in Tipperary. We have at least 1 team in all categories from U8s through to junior and senior ladies. Over time the club competed at the highest level in all age groups and have the honour of being A champions at U12, U14, U16 and U21.

The club continues to have great representation at county level, and we were very proud when our own Maria Curley was selected as captain of Tipperary Ladies Senior Football team for 2022. Templemore has always been represented on Tipperary County executive and currently Templemore’s Michael Towey holds the position of county chairman.

The JK Brackens GAA club was formed in 1992 following an amalgamation process between Templemore Eire Og, Clonmore and Killea. All three clubs voted in favour of the initial agreement, with an opt out clause after five years. In 1997 the Killea club triggered that clause with Eire Og and Clonmore voting to carry on.

The club was named after Joseph Kevin Bracken who was a local stonemason in Templemore in the late nineteenth/early twentieth century. Bracken was a founder member of the GAA having been present at Hayes Hotel in November 1884. He was the first Chairman of Tipperary County Board and also served as Vice-President of the GAA. His son Brendan was a member of the British Parliament and served as Minister for Information under Winston Churchill from 1941-1945.

The club caters for juveniles beginning at U-5 level and field teams in both codes all the way through to adult level. The club would generally have around 500 members. JK Brackens also has a very active Scor community who showcase the many cultural aspects of the GAA.

The club has grounds in the Town Park in Templemore and at Graffin in Clonmore. Brackens began as an Intermediate club and by 1998 had progressed to Senior level in both codes. 2022 marks their 25th consecutive year as a dual Senior club.

The club have won many divisional and county titles since its inception culminating with their first Mid Tipperary Senior hurling title in 2022. Eamonn Corcoran, Kevin Mulryan, Sean Collum, David Bourke, Aidan Doyle, Ray Doyle, Shane Bourke, Colin O’Riordan, Alan O’Riordan, Fearghal McDonnell, Tom Murphy, Lyndon Fairbrother, Paddy Cadell, Andrew Ormond and Jamie Ormond have all achieved notable success with Tipperary while many others have worn the Blue and Gold with distinction.

John Costigan served as the clubs first Chairman before going on to serve as County Chairman from 2006-2008. JK Brackens won the Mid Tipperary Intermediate Club of the Year in 1992, 1993 and 1997 while they claimed the Senior award in 2017.

Exciting renovations and retrofitting took place at the JK Brackens Club House in February of 2020. Funded by the SEAI and project managed by Tippeary Energy Agency the roof was upgraded with an insulated trapezoidal roof, floor insulation, Heat recovery, Air conditioning (Heating & Cooling), Air to water Heat pump (hot water for showers) LED lighting, new windows and doors were all fitted by SOLA, Templemore’s own retrofitting company. The new measures resulted in savings of 7,295kWh per year or €495 per year. As a result of the upgrades, the club now have the luxury of a warm, bright, and comfortable clubhouse which they can use for various meetings and events going forward.

JK Brackens – moving with the times!
