As we welcome another Spring, tomorrow marks the feast of St. Brigid and the 1500th anniversary of her passing. A long-standing tradition on the eve of her feast day is to hang out clothing or strips of cloth to receive her blessings, believed to bring healing and protection.
Our community is truly fortunate to have Lynn Kirkham, an expert on St. Brigid’s life and traditions, sharing her knowledge with us. Last Sunday morning in Killea, Lynn showcased a beautiful display of her work and demonstrated how to weave the iconic St. Brigid’s cross.
For those who missed it, fear not! 🙌 The Sr. Aine Historical Society is delighted to welcome Lynn to the McAuley Centre this Friday at 7 PM for a short talk on St. Brigid, followed by another cross-weaving demonstration. And if you’d like to try making your own, this is your chance!
